Cobalt Studios

Cobalt Studios is a not for profit community interest company providing artist studios, a coworking space and breakout container maker spaces, plus a live events venue with eclectic original programming.

Having created the identities and online platforms for Ouseburn-based sister venues Ernest and Ernie, we rebranded the organisation and devised a bolder logo which can be displayed as either a single row, or a stacked version which visually emphasises their alternative and underground focus. The colour palette was designed to be eye-catching, utilising a vibrant signature blue, plus a changing seasonal accent to reinforce the quarterly programming model. These can be commercially printed as two colour Pantone inks, or reproduced in-house using the Risograph press we originally introduced the founders to for the Ernest project.

The printed programmes and posters helped immediately set the venue apart in an already busy local scene. The use of alternating colour blocks afforded a recognisable striping motif which can be identified at a distance, and endlessly reconfigured with consistency across print, social media assets and the events calendar interface on the bespoke WordPress website we delivered.
